Telescope eyepieces Plössl, wide-angle and zoom eyepieces and kits, under your brand
The telescope eyepiece decides the magnification and much of the view — and eyepiece upgrade kits are a repeat accessory sale for every telescope sold. PorroForge supplies Plössl, wide-angle and zoom eyepieces in standard 1.25″ and 2″ barrels, Barlow lenses, threaded filters and eyepiece kits in cases to telescope brands, astronomy and hobby retailers, education buyers and e-commerce sellers. - Plössl, wide-angle and zoom eyepieces
- 1.25″ and 2″ standard barrel sizes
- Barlow lenses, threaded filters
- Eyepiece kits in cases; no eyepiece solar filters
Eyepiece basics: focal length and magnification
Magnification = telescope focal length ÷ eyepiece focal length. A 25 mm eyepiece on a 700 mm telescope gives 28x; a 10 mm gives 70x. Shorter focal lengths give higher power but a dimmer view and usually shorter eye relief. A Barlow lens multiplies the telescope’s effective focal length (2x is common), doubling each eyepiece’s magnification. The apparent field of view (how wide the view looks) depends on the eyepiece design and is stated per model.
Eyepiece types
- Plössl — the standard four-element design; a solid general-purpose choice for kits and upgrades.
- Wide-angle designs — more elements for a wider apparent field; popular as premium upgrades.
- Zoom eyepieces — variable focal length in one barrel; convenient for beginners and outreach.
- Simple kit eyepieces — basic designs supplied with entry telescopes; a retailer’s upgrade kit replaces them.
- Barlow lenses and filters — moon, color and light-pollution filters threaded for standard barrels.
Barrel sizes, threads and coatings
1.25″ is the most common barrel size on beginner and mid-range telescopes; 2″ barrels allow wider fields on telescopes with 2″ focusers. Barrels are usually threaded for standard filters. Lens coatings (fully coated to fully multi-coated), blackened edges, rubber eyeguards and undercut barrels are specified per SKU — coating terms are explained in the specs guide.
Solar safety
Solar safety: never point a telescope, finder, binocular or eyepiece at the Sun without a certified solar filter covering the front aperture completely. Viewing the Sun without one can cause instant, permanent eye damage. This warning goes into every manual and box we supply.
We do not supply eyepiece-mounted solar filters, which can crack from concentrated heat. Solar viewing products are only supplied where the brand confirms the applicable standard (for example ISO 12312-2 for direct solar viewers) with an accredited laboratory per SKU.
Who buys telescope eyepieces from us

No certifications, ratings or test data claimed. We describe what each product is, how it works and how it can be customized. We do not display certification marks, publish optical test data, factory capacity or customer cases on this site; optical figures are stated per model on its specification sheet. Test reports and certification documentation can be provided or arranged per order for the buyer’s market, as the brand owner requires. Regulated items: laser rangefinders (laser classification and labeling, e.g. FDA/CDRH laser notice in the US, IEC 60825-1), digital night vision binoculars (IR illuminator eye safety and export classification; image-intensifier Gen 2/Gen 3 devices are not offered) and children’s products (e.g. CPSIA / CPC, small parts, EN 71) are confirmed per SKU and per order with the supplier and an accredited lab. Never point a telescope, binocular or eyepiece at the Sun without a certified solar filter. Labeling and claims are the brand owner’s responsibility.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate the magnification of an eyepiece?
Divide the telescope’s focal length by the eyepiece’s focal length — 700 mm ÷ 10 mm = 70x. A 2x Barlow doubles it.
1.25-inch or 2-inch eyepieces?
1.25″ fits most beginner and mid-range telescopes; 2″ needs a 2″ focuser and is used for wide-field eyepieces.
Can you build an eyepiece upgrade kit for our telescopes?
Yes — we match focal lengths to your telescope focal lengths and pack the kit in a branded case.
Can these telescopes be used to look at the Sun?
Never without a certified solar filter that covers the front of the telescope (or finder) completely. Looking at the Sun through any telescope, binocular, eyepiece or finder without one can cause instant, permanent eye damage. We print this warning in manuals and on packaging, and we do not supply eyepiece-mounted solar filters. Where a brand wants to sell solar viewing products, the applicable standard (for example ISO 12312-2 for direct solar viewers, or the relevant standard for front-mounted filters) is confirmed by the buyer with an accredited laboratory per SKU — we make no claim here.
What is the MOQ and lead time?
Both are quoted per SKU. MOQ depends mainly on the model (an existing optical design vs. a new housing or optical design), magnification and objective size, prism glass and coatings, armor color, logo method, packaging and the documentation your market needs; lead time depends on customization, documentation and season. Send your quantities and we confirm both on the quotation — see also the packaging & MOQ section of our specs guide.
Are your products certified or tested?
We do not display certification marks, ratings or test data on this site. Test reports and certification documentation can be provided or arranged per order for your market, as your brand requires: tell us the destination market, sales channel and the standard or document your retailer or marketplace asks for, and the quotation confirms which documentation applies to each SKU and how it is obtained (existing reports for a model, or testing arranged with a third-party laboratory). See the export compliance section of our specs guide or ask on the inquiry form.
